ROBERT LEE CHAPMAN was born July 3, 1939, in Nelsonville, Ohio, and passed away suddenly on May 11, 2024, at the age of 84. Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was a beloved brother, uncle, devoted veteran, and passionate traveler. Bob spent his later years residing in Columbus where he continued to share his warmth and wisdom with all who knew him.
Bob's life was a tapestry of adventure and service. After graduating from Nelsonville High School and The Ohio State University, he answered the call of duty and served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. His time in the military took him to distant lands, fostering a lifelong love for travel that led him to explore countless corners of the globe. After his military service, Bob engaged in a long and distinguished career as a social worker.
Bob was known not only for his adventurous spirit but also for his kindness and generosity. He was a fixture in his community, always ready with a helping hand or a captivating tale from his journeys. His love for life and his dedication to his family and friends will be dearly missed.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Margaret Irene Chapman and sisters Margaret Anne Peppers (Richard Sr.), and Charlene Irene Burley. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother Phillip E. Chapman; special cousin Paul Locke (Laura); nephews Richard C. Peppers Jr. (Evelyn), David C. Peppers Sr. (Theresa), James L. Peppers (Kim), Kenneth G. Burley (Chi Chi), Phillip C. Chapman (Kira), Patrick E. Chapman; nieces Nancy K. McClendon (Ernie), Doreen Burley, and Karolyn M. Burley-Parks, Allyson Chapman; and a host of great and great-great nephews and nieces and friends.
