Robert Lee Montgomery was born in Gary, West Virginia on March 3, 1933. He departed this life on February 21, 2015. He attended Gary District High School in Gary, West Virginia. He worked and lived in New York City, New York for many years. He established himself as a Welder and a truck driver. He met and married his dedicated wife, Frances Greene, and they were married for 53 years. In 1974, they moved to Columbus, Ohio and continued on this journey of life. He was employed as a Welder at Buckeye Steel Casting of Columbus, Ohio. Robert was a very loyal and dedicated employee. He is known by many of his peers as a “generous and frank” person. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father Kyle Montgomery, mother Geneva Clark Montgomery-Fuller, sisters, Gladys Montgomery, Victoria Howard, Ruth Brown, and Lilly Donaldson, and son, Robert L. Montgomery, Jr. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Greene-Montgomery of Columbus, Ohio; children, Tayonda Singleton (Darrell) of Columbus, Ohio, Shonia Stokes (Lee) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Douglas Montgomery (Pam) of Atlanta, Georgia, Dawn Montgomery of Atlanta, Georgia, Shoanne Parks, Terron Parks, and Marshawn of Columbus, Ohio; stepmother Marion Conners Montgomery; sister Lucy Godfrey (Lawson) of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Kyle Montgomery, Jr. (Annette) of Logan, West Virginia, Douglas Montgomery of Logan, West Virginia, and Carl Fuller of Wilmington, Delaware; seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
