Robert Lee Bob Peeples, Sr., age 82, went home to the Lord Friday, August 5, 2011 in Fort Washington, MD. He was born October 9, 1928 in Thomson, GA. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1967 after 23 years of honorable service; member of the Tuskegee Airmen, Lockbourne AFB, 1947-1949. Served overseas with the USAF in Italy, Germany, France, England, North Africa, Japan, Okinawa, Korea, and Vietnam. Received numerous military awards and decorations, including the Congressional Gold Medal. Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans. His Tuskegee Airmen Inc. chapter achievements include Ohio Memorial Presidents' Plaque, 1998-2003; State of Ohio Tuskegee Airmen Marker, 2003; and The Tuskegee Airmen Memorial, 2000. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Lee Peeples, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara L. Smith-Peeples; son, Wayne E. Peeples, of Columbus, OH; daughters, Jo Ann Jackson, of Thomson, GA; Tina Early and Robin E. Early, both of Columbus, OH; stepsons, Wendell and Charles Mullins, both of Columbus, OH; brother, Frederick D. Peeples, of Grand Rapids, MI; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
