Robert Quentin Harry, affectionately known as Quince or Murdock, was born June 10, 1959 to Katherine and Smiley E. Harry at University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was one of seven children. Robert attended Columbus Public Schools where he demonstrated his musical talent by playing the trumpet. A devoted former employee of the City of Columbus Department of Sanitation, he enjoyed bowling, basketball, listening to music (especially Tupac and 50 Cent), and most of all, spending time with his family. Robert departed this life Friday, December 9, 2011 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father Smiley E. Harry, sister Sharon Duke Toland, paternal grandparents Annie Harry and Mingo Jackson, maternal grandparents Alberta and Taft Davis, mother- and father-in-law Delores and Eugene Garland, Sr., and brother-in-law, Eugene Garland, Jr. Robert leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 27 years, Gwendolyn Harry; daughter Carmen; sons Sherman and Gregory; grandchildren, Lonay, Carmello, Makiah, and Nobi; mother Katherine Harry; sisters, Ernestine Wiley, Angela Harry, and Katherine Colquitt; brothers Michael E. Harry and Steven J. Harry; brothers-in-law, Terri, Michael, Marvin, and Demetrius Garland, and sisters-in-law, Glenda Foster, Eugenia Yassien, and Margaret Garland; special brothers John Simpson and John Gresson; 23 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life 10 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the start of service. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
