Roosevelt Osborne, Jr.

Roosevelt Osborne Jr. “June” was born December 4, 1935 in Newport News, Virginia to Roosevelt Sr. and Penney Mae Osborne. He was the third out of nine children. He was a proud graduate of Booker T. High School of Norfolk, Virginia with the class of 1954. He served four years as a member of the United States Air Force as an Air Police Officer. While stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio he met and married Geneva Spencer; they were married on April 20, 1957. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage! He had 4 children: Alphonso, Penney, Roosevelt and Jerome. Roosevelt was a faithful member of the Columbus Bible Way Church. Roosevelt retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992. He was an avid bowler and all things Cleveland (Browns, and Cavaliers) he was infamous for signifying and an occasional joke. He loved his grandchildren and great-granddaughters. One of his greatest pastimes was talking trash with his brother in-law Earl Spencer. He was a hospitable “guy” quick to offer an adult beverage and a bite to eat to visitors even when he could no longer indulge (smile). Roosevelt was passionate about his family and loved the Lord. Roosevelt was preceded in death by, Father: Roosevelt Osborne Sr., Mother: Pennie Mae Osborne, Brothers: Merrile, Edward and Samuel Osborne; Sister: Betty Mae Davis Mother in Law: Lucy Spencer. He is survived by: Geneva Osborne (Wife), Children: Alphonso (Rosalind) Glenn, Penney (Paul) Watkins, Roosevelt III (Margaret) Osborne, Jerome (Felicia) Osborne, grand-children: Paul (Jo), and Christopher Watkins, Candace, Isaiah and Elias Osborne, Ciarra Chapman, Gregory, Aaron and Erica Glenn, great-grandchildren: Charlee Osborne, JoAnna and Jasmine Watkins. Siblings: Portia (Hubert) Dunston, Ida (Vernis) Beverly, Leonard (Mamie) Osborne, Shirley (Richard) Jackson, Spencer Family and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
