Rosa Etta King was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on April 19th, 1942. She was the youngest daughter to the late James and Rosa King. On Saturday September 3rd, 2022, Rosa entered eternal rest from The Westerwood Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio.
Rosa graduated from Washington High School in El Dorado, AR in 1960. She matriculated to The University Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She went on to complete graduate studies in the areas of Reading and Mathematics at The University of Connecticut in Farmington, Connecticut. Upon completing her education, Rosa taught seven years for the Arkansas Public School System.

In 1971, Rosa relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she taught twenty-seven years for the Columbus Public School District. She also worked for Columbus Public Schools as an Internal Coach and administered the Benchmark Assessment Test for kindergarteners.
Through the union of James Snowden two children were born in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of Sunday School Class #7, member of the B & P Circle of the Shiloh Missionary Society, and twice served as the chairperson for the Shiloh Annual Women’s Day. Rosa was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She enjoyed spending time with family especially her grandchildren, reading, and loved listening to music. She will be remembered by many for her kind, sweet spirit, and beautiful smile.
Preceding her in death is her father, James E. King; mother, Rosa E. King; two sisters, Sara R. King and Laura F. Dorsey; and two brothers, James Talley King and Albert Cox Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Leah Tate (Reggie); son, Justin Snowden; two grandchildren, Alicia Tate and Reggie Tate II; one sister, Elenor B. Thompson; one brother, Fred E. King (Maude); special sister-in-law, Carrie Jean Snowden; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
