Rosa Miles

Rosa Lee was born in Lake Alfred, Florida to Evelyn Gordon and Evans Williams and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1952.

She was married in holy matrimony to D.W. Miles, Sr. for 61 years.

She was a dedicated member of the Deaconess, and Gospel Choir ministries. Later in life she joined the Senior Choir at Mr. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, as well as sang in the Radio Choir Broadcast.

Rosa Lee served as one of the soloist at Shiloh Baptist Church each year on Good Friday for the Seven Last Words. She also served as soloist each year for the opening session of the Women's Auxiliary at the Lott Carey Convention from 1978-1995.

Rosa graduated from Jewett High School in Lake Alfred, Florida; then, attended The Ohio State University and Dennison University receiving her Bachelor of Administration and was a career Administrator for two nursing homes.

Traveling with her friends around various cities singing in Gospel Programs, she really showed throughout her life how much she loved Jesus. Bowling, cooking and spending holidays with her family were some of her favorite past times. She also enjoyed playing the piano, feeding birds, and watching sports, especially the Buckeyes.

Her favorite candy was Werther's; she would eat them while talking on the phone to her sister Catherine and brother-in-law John Baity on the phone for hours.

In the afternoon of December 3, 2024 the Lord petitioned Rosa Lee to join him in the air.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, D.W. Miles, Sr; son, Dan Miles; daughter, Rosena Miles (Peggy); and granddaughter, Candice Simmons.

Surviving family includes daughter, Lillie "Molly" (James) Campbell; sons, Thomas (JoAnn) Simmons, D.W. (Felicia) Miles, Jr.; James (Lelani) Miles, Jerry (Tina) Miles; 24 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; sister, Catherine (John) Baity; as well as a host of nieces, nephews; best friends, William (Voncell) Brown as well as many others.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12th, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 Dewey Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43211. Burial will process to Evergreen Cemetery.
