Rose Marie Weaver

Rose Marie Weaver age 80 of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of Elkorn, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2012. Rose was born February 13, 1932 in Elkorn West Virginia and was the daughter of Alexander and Arletha Reed. Also preceded in death are brothers, Alexander Reed Jr., Emmitt Reed, Lindsey Reed and sisters, Edna Allen, Evelyn Logan and Diane Reed. Rose graduated in 1950 and was valedictorian of Elkorn Negro High School. She was president of her graduating class and a member of the cheerleading squad. She was an active member of Bethany Baptist, singing in the senior choir as well as serving on various committees. Rose retired from The Ohio State University Department of Economics after 20 years of service. She is survived by daughters Rosalind (Douglas) Black, Cathy Weaver, Jan Marguerite Weaver, Karen Weaver all of Cols, Ohio; granddaughters Dawn (Peter) Sloboda of Charlotte, NC, Catharyne Henderson, Brienne Weaver of Cols, Ohio; great grandchildren Kaia Sloboda and Steven Rhymes. Also survived by sisters Stella Gillard, Princeton, WV, Helen Slaughter, Beechwood, Ohio, Shirley Rucker, Elkorn, WV, Barbara ( Eugene) Cowan, Cols, Ohio, Elizabeth Caslin, Chicago, II, and Cynthia ( George) Simmons, Pickerington, Oh. Rose also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Bethany Baptist family to celebrate her life. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of McNaughton Pointe and Mount Carmel Hospice for the wonderful compassionate care they gave Rose.
