Roy Eugene James

June 25, 1958 — July 5, 2012

Roy Eugene James was born in Devonshire, Bermuda on June 25, 1958. He passed away peacefully on July 5, 2012 from ongoing illness. A graduate of Marion Franklin High School in 1977; he went on to join the United States Army. Preceded in death by his wife, Naja James and brother, Michael James. He is survived by loving parents, John H. and Marie James and Raymond and Joann Swann; daughters, Rakay and Aletha; sister, Regina; brothers, Greg (Cynthia), John, Kenneth and Troy; life friends, Lenora Tyler, Steve Blockhead and Kim; 8 grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Roy James was a loving and kind husband to his wife, Naza; a devoted family man to their daughters and grandchildren. His generosity always astounded the people around him. Always a thoughtful word, thought or deed. Always helping hand. He loved children, his family was very important to him. He had a generous spirit toward all. He devoted his life to his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He spent innumerable hours with those close to him. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, attending school functions and traveling with his family. Even when he didn't feel well you would never know it. He never complained about how sick he was. He was always interested in people around him, even the smallest details of everyday life. I've never seen Roy without a smile on his face, he was a congenial person. There was never a day where he didn't tell a joke or make you laugh. He loved his brothers and his parents. We were always deeply moved toward the love he showed toward his entire family. Family dinners were something to look forward to, with Roy cooking, which he loved to do. We are all blessed to have known him. He was a wonderful brother, son, uncle, nephew, father, grandfather, and friend. 37 He said to him: 'You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.' 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 The second, like it, is this, 'You must love your neighbor as yourself.'
