Ruby Elizabeth Whitmire

Ruby E. Whitmire, age 86, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, July 19, 2013. Born January 6, 1927 in Gaffney, S. Carolina, she graduated from Carver High School (Spartanburg, SC) in 1946. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1957. For over 50 years, she was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was involved with Vacation Bible School, Missionary Society, and the Young at Heart Senior Ministry. A proud graduate of Ohio Dominican College, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work in June 1975. Predeceased by husband of 47 years, Dennis Whitmire, parents, Novella and Robert Hardy, sisters, Mary, Barbara, and Carolyn Hardy, and brother Josephus Hardy. Survived by 5 loving children: sons, Dennis (Janice) Whitmire, Timothy Whitmire, and Kenneth (Ronda) Whitmire, and daughters, Pastor Theresa Whitmire, and Arneta (Larry) Brown; 8 grandchildren, Lisa Whitmire, Kortez Booker, David and Michael Brown, Alaine, Timika, Tiffany, and Kenneth Whitmire, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Jasmine Whitmire; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten by her family and all who knew her.
