Rupert Augustus Allen, also known to many as Peko, was born April 21, 1948 in Georgetown, Guyana (South America). At the age of 23 years old, Rupert married the lovely Winifred Ross. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Some of his most cherished memories were the births of his children and grandchildren, family vacations in Florida, his daughters' weddings, and holiday gatherings, especially during the Christmas season. Rupert worked as a telephone company technician for over forty years and as a factory worker for approximately eight years. He was actively involved in the 2008 Presidential Campaign and Election, during which time he helped transport voters and Democratic Party volunteers and officials to and from polling locations, campaign offices, the airport and other locations. He was a frequent visitor to the First Church of God, where he worshiped alongside his family. On December 17, 2014, at the age of 66, Rupert was called home to rest with the Lord while at the Batavia Care Center in Batavia, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ada Allen, father, Albert McDonald, and sisters, Elaine Daniels, Dorris Bailey, and Mazie Jeffers. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Winifred V. Allen; sons, Wayne Lewis, Ted Allen, and Oliver (Jennifer) Allen; daughters, Janice Allen, Annie Allen, Nechole Allen, Vunessa Allen-Martin (Derrick), and Vivica Adduni Allen; brother, Albert Fitzgerald; sister, Mavis Alleyne; brothers-in-law, Winston Ross and George Ault; sister-in-law, Shirley Cort; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and dear friends.
