Ruth Hazel Everett

September 2, 1944 — April 4, 2011

Ruth H. Everett was born September 2, 1944 in Union, SC to the union of Laura Worthy and Henry Beaty Sr. She grew up in Union, SC and was a graduate of Sims High School. Ruth later relocated to the Big Apple, New York City, and then to Philadelphia, PA which is where she married and began her family. Ruth and her family relocated to Columbus, OH in 1979. She worked as a Nursing Assistant for Columbus Colony Elderly Care in Westerville, OH where she retired in 2004. Ruth was a very humble, fun loving and caring person. She had the gift of making you not only smile, but laugh in the most uncomfortable situations, even if it meant tickling you or whisking you off into a two-step and a twirl. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren who were the pride of her life and kept her smiling even on the toughest days. She affectionately referred to Shevelia, age 3, as “Little One” and Tori, age 2 as “T T”. She also loved and enjoyed spending time with her dog, “grandpuppy Emo”. Ruth was a marvelous cook and many who are here today can attest to that! She had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the piano which she had done since the age of 13. Ruth loved to dance and entertain and had spent many recent days reminiscing with the sounds of her old school Doo Wop. Ruth had a quiet, sweet spirit that inspired others to show kindness and love even when they would not want to. And even when you were stubborn, she knew just how to get to your heart. Ruth was a caregiver by nature, giving and sharing with others to the best of her ability even through her illness. She always had a good word to give to encourage and uplift and she made an imprint on the hearts of many she spent any amount of time with. Ruth entered eternal rest on April 4, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmoses Everett; father, Henry Beaty Sr.; mother, Laura Worthy Beaty; sister; Lena Worthy and nephews Willis DeNeil Worthy and Douglas Anthony Worthy. Left to cherish her memory, daughters Lori (Tommy) Hill and Sheryl Everett, both of Columbus, OH; siblings, Robert Worthy, Dorothy Worthy of Philadelphia, PA; Roosevelt Worthy, Leroy Worthy and Mary Worthy of Union, SC; and Henry (Carol) Beaty Jr. of Columbus, OH; grandchildren Shevelia Everett-Asong and Tori Hill, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins all of which she loved dearly. Ruth will be deeply missed by all of us. Her love has embedded our hearts forever and she would insist that we rejoice in her homegoing, knowing that she is at peace and eternal rest.
