Ruth M. Harriston, 87, born September 12, 1928 in Jamestown, OH, passed away December 14, 2015. A graduate of East High School and The Ohio State University, Ruth was an accomplished businesswoman. During her career, she managed five statewide offices of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, served as a corporate paralegal for a local law firm, and founded her own paralegal firm, Corporate Services of Ohio, Inc. As a proud member of Shiloh Baptist Church for 73+ years, she faithfully served 19 years on the Board of Trustees and was co-chairperson of the 100th Anniversary Committee. Predeceased by husband Cardinal D. Harriston, parents George and Harriet Martin, siblings Alice and John, niece Louise Lewis, and nephew George T. Martin. Survived by nephews John (Debra) and Craig Martin; niece Clarissa Clark; great nephews, Keith (Shavonda) Noble, Ph.D., Alfred (Jasmine) Hill, III, Travis Clark, Jr., Justyn and Gauhan Martin; great nieces Alisha and Gemini Martin; cousins Hazel Flowers, Ph.D., and Edward Lewis, Jr.; goddaughter Niccole Hyatt; dear friends Paula Gray and Gillian Martin; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
