Sadie L. (Ayers) Chaney

Sadie L. Chaney was born February 25, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio where she remained a resident throughout her life. She was a homemaker that enjoyed having her family close by. For many years, Sadie was the family babysitter with her grandchildren, April Mayfield and Tony Gordon, helping her to care for and watch over the younger grandchildren. She also enjoyed good music, good food and was known for hosting family cookouts that lasted into the night. Sadie made sure all her children and grandchildren were excellent cooks so they could carry on her legacy. On June 17, 2017, at the age of 74, Sadie was called from labor to reward while at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her children, Carlos Gordon, John Gordon, Kim Gordon, and LaTonya Walton, parents, Robert Ayers and Elizabeth Stamper Ayers, and siblings, Daniel, Robert, and Berdetta Ayers. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Harold (Debra) Ayers, Anthony (Rethea) Ayers, Kevin Smith, Gary (Colleen) Brown, and Telford (Judith) Gordon; daughter Linda Chaney; siblings, Ola Mae Hagwood, Gary Ayers, and Doris Williams; 28 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
