Samuel Jordan Goode

Samuel J. Goode, age 78, of Reynoldsburg, OH went home to the Lord Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Mt. Carmel East Medical Center. Born March 27, 1934 in Petersburg, VA to the late Lee P. Goode and Easter Ellison Goode, Mr. Goode was a graduate of Franklin University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. A retired U.S. Air Force veteran, he served his country for 20 years, including service in Vietnam. He was also a retiree from the State of Ohio, Department of Administrative Services (DAS), where he worked for 23 years. A longtime member of Southfield Community Baptist Church, he served as church clerk, sang with the Male Chorus, the Senior Choir, the Laymen's League Ministry, and many other duties. He was a charter member of The King's Men support board of the King Arts Complex. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lee P., Jr.; Henry, Robert, and Philip Goode; sisters, Mary Jane Greer, and Dr. Mildred Wright. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 29 years, Bess Goode; son, David Goode; step-sons, Robert (Marilyn) Johnson, of Atlanta, GA; Michael Johnson of California; Mark Johnson, of Reynoldsburg, OH; sisters, Joyce (Bob) Haynes, of Higginsville, MO; Gloria High, of Houston, TX; brother, Joseph Goode, of Petersburg, VA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
