Samuel Mercer King was born December 14, 1925 to Rosa Gardner King and Willie Mercer King in Buena Vista (Chattahoochee County), Georgia. He retired from Ohio Malleable Iron Company and was also a longtime employee of The Ohio State University, where he worked in the Maintenance Department. An outdoorsman at heart, Samuel enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known to carry a Buckeye nut in his pocket at all times. He departed this life on August 5, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Daisy, Eloise, Susie, and Rosa, brother David, and brothers-in-law, Boise and Tommy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Patricia Dioone Willoughby; stepdaughters, Machelle Denise Willoughby and Angela Renee Willoughby; sisters, Mae Pearl Hollis, Frances Smith, and Lovis (Alex) Green; brother S.T. (Hattie) King; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
