Sarah Burney

Pastor Sarah Sabrina Banks, was born to her mother Ruby Bowden- Aggie and step-father James Aggie in Brooklyn, New York on November 5th, 1962. She graduated John F. Kennedy high school then went on to working on Wall Street.

She met and was married to Darryl Herring Sr. for 27 years. From this union she was blessed with a son Darryl Herring Jr., and Sarah and Jr. later moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she attended Rhema Bible College. She returned home for a short while to watch over her sick sister and then mother. After her mothers passing she moved to Columbus, Ohio.

In Columbus, is where she received a Bachelors degree from Franklin University and a Masters from Ashford University. She also worked as a State employee with a 10 year tenure.

Later she met and married her late husband Elder Paul H. Mitchell. During his life they founded Triumph in Christ Ministry in 2012 and Pastored together until his passing.

Pastor Sarah remarried in August 2023 and leaves behind her loving husband, Dr. Simon A. Burney.

Pastor Sarah is preceded in death by her first and second husband; parents; sister, Wanda; brothers, Larry and Lester.

She is survived by her son Darryl (Charlotte) Herring; two grandchildren, Jordan and Jamiyah Herring; niece, Catina Walker; nephew, Jermaine Fisher; aunt, Mertice (96 years old); God-daughters, Jasmine Ware (Asya, Saniya, Kiya), Lannetta Farmer (Mersadies, Kaydin); as well as a host of cousins, close friends, family and spiritual daughters and sons.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7. 2024 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at The Way of Holiness Apostolic Church 1088 E. Weber Road, Columbus, Ohio 43211.
