Sharon Ann Miller

Sharon Miller was born August 25, 1946, in New Paris, Ohio to Noel Clifton (father) and Garnett Clemens (mother). She passed in her sleep on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the home she and her husband, Chris Miller, shared in Canal Winchester, Ohio. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by loving husband of 21 years (partners for 35) Chris Miller; son, Anthony (Tony Hurd and wife, Desiree; brothers, Ronald and Noel Clemens; stepdaughter Malikeya Khantrece; and grandchildren, Mackenzie Hurd, Elijah Jones and Imani Burke. Family Moments: While young, around Christmas time, Sharon and Noel Clemens would search the whole house, looking for gifts. They made a detective game out of it. Of course, they got in trouble sneaking around the house and getting into places they did not belong. It was the happiest and joyous moments during the holidays. They were not rich, but their parents gave them everything they could have ever imagination. Faith, Love and Family. In the early 1970’s, through hard work and persistence, Sharon earned her “Instrument Reading Pilot Certificate”. Shortly after, she would assists as a co-pilot for both single and twin engine planes. She became a skilled co-pilot for many family trips to the American Island’s over the years. Sharon’s most joyful moments were the graduation of Tony from college and; the marriage of Tony and Desiree; and the birth of granddaughter Mackenzie. CAREER: Sharon began her career at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company in 1964 in the Residence Business Office in Dayton, Ohio. Her management positions included Business Office Supervisor and Business Office Training Manager. Sharon transferred to ATT in Columbus and New Jersey to Corporate Staff and Phone Center Training Manager. In all, Sharon worked in management at ATT (Ohio Bell) and retired with 34 years of service. Sharon then worked for 10 years for the State of Ohio as a tax clerk at the Ohio Department of Taxation. She was pursuing her quest for knowledge through courses at Columbus State Community College in various subject areas. On a professional level she was most proud of the number of women and minorities’ she mentored and developed to help them achieve their career goals. COMMUNITY SERVICE: Sharon was actively involved in community. She and her husband Chris assumed directorship of TECH CORPS Georgia, the state chapter of the national’ TECH CORPS volunteer nonprofit organization. She volunteered for 8 years as the Program Director at TCGA and also participated for 3 years in the Corporation for National and Community Service’s AmeriCorps VISTA program, working with at-risk high school students, and she also served as a volunteer for 2 years in an Atlanta Georgia United Way funded work development program serving low-income adults and families.
