Sharon Denise Denson

DENSON, Sharon (nee Rouland) Sharon Denise Denson, known to friends as “Shai,” passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in her home at the age of 62 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on December 5, 1956, she was the daughter of Thomas Rouland Sr. and Mattie Rouland (nee Whitehead). She served in the United States Army from 1974-1977, where she was honorably discharged. She received her degree in Computer Science from Ivy Tech, and spent over 30 years working in IT. After moving to Columbus Ohio in 1986, she spent 28 years working at The Ohio State University, where she received the Marilyn Farish Operational Award. Shai was a proud Buckeye sports fan. Shai loved scary movies, working out at the Power Shack, and was known to always have some dark chocolate on hand. She loved music and dancing. Shai always brought her huge smile and positivity everywhere she went. No matter the challenge she faced, she always rose above it with tenacity, quiet determination and her strong faith in the Lord Jesus. She was a devoted mom, grandma, and friend. We trust she will continue to smile down on us from heaven. Sharon is remembered with love by her sons Gerald (Christie) Denson, Jr and William “Trai” Brown III, grandchildren Maxwell Denson, Evan Denson and Nora Lytle, and her devoted friend and companion Kevin Brown. She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Rouland, Sr., Mattie Rouland, and brother Thomas Rouland Jr. Sharon will also be forever remembered by her extended family and dear friends. A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Creekside Conference and Event Center, 101 Mill St., Suite 300, Gahanna, OH 43230 at 11:00 a.m. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Sharon to the James Fund for Life at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.
