BURKS Sharon Eileen Burks “Shoopie”, 69. Sunrise December 31, 1944 and Sunset November 13, 2014. Born to LaVoy and Marie Spooner in Dayton, Ohio. Sharon graduated in Social Work from Capital University. She retired after 30+ years of dedicated service from Franklin County Children’s Services, where she served as Director of the Malaika Mentoring Program. She was a longtime member of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Sharon was preceded in death by her father LaVoy Spooner. She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Marie Spooner, husband, Lowell Burks, Jr.; children, Lowell (Angela) Burks III, Arla Burks-Lyles, Terrrence Burks; grandchildren, Anastasia Owens, Ani Lyles, Amani Lyles, Ashanti Lyles, Madison Burks and Lowell “Charlie” Burks IV; siblings, Major General USAF (retired) Richard E. (Tess) Spooner, LaVoy (Carole) Spooner, Pastor Paulette Cummings, John (Pamela) Spooner, Kevin (June) Spooner, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, very special extended family, and numerous friends.
