Sherlene Aaron took a first class flight to her eternal hom on August 20, 2012. Sherlene Aaron was born in Eastman, GA and lived in Pompano Beach, FL for a period of time before moving to Columbus, OH with her father and sisters. She was preceded in death by parents, Ophelia and Wilbert Currington, Sr. Sherlene was a dedicated disciple of Refuge Missionary Baptist Church, where she worked with Meals on Wheels, the Food Pantry and the Farmer’s Market program. She was always available and could be counted on to assist in any way possible. She was an active member of the Sunday School Department. She attended Columbus Public Schools where she graduated. She married the late Milton Aaron on February 23, 1955. She retired from T. Marzetti where she was employed for over fifty years. She was a faithful and active member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 284. She believed in and fought for equal pay and the rights of other workers. She was a community volunteer including, neighborhood cleanups; beautification projects and was a National Night Out volunteer. Sherlene enjoyed spending time with family, baking, cooking, gardening, and meeting new people. She leaves to remember her life; son, Milton (Andrea) Aaron, Jr.; daughters, Phyllis A. (James) Burnett; Gwendolyn E. (Gerald Talley) Aaron; Evangelist Patricia Aaron, Hester Marie (Eric) Swanson, Assalaamu Jabbar’Bey. Special recognition for grandchildren Michael D. Aaron and Nicole T. Aaron. Host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. Special friends include Hilda Marshall, Geraldine Hayes and Willa Mae Smith.
