Shirley Jean Thompson

Shirley J. Thompson was born on April 18, 1973 to the late Joe and Susie Sanford in Birmingham Alabama. Shirley attended the public school system in Birmingham. Shirley accepted Christ at the early age of eleven with the First Baptist Graymont in Alabama. The Lord was her personal savior. She moved to Columbus, Ohio and met the late Albert Thompson. They joined in holy matrimony and had 5 children. Shirley retired from RG Barry. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church and was a faithful active member until her health failed. As an active member she serviced as a Sunday School teacher, Nurse Corp, Missionary and also sung with Y.A.C. Preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Lee Sanford, Nellie Agee-Dexter, Helen Blackwell and Charles Sandford. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her daughter Shirlene (Saladin); sons, Albert Thompson, Robert Thompson, Derrick Thompson, and Darrick Thompson; siblings, John (Francis) Lucas Joe (Inell) Sanford, Carl Sandford, Otis (Geraldine) Sandford, Carlolyn Johnson; 23 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Floyd Thompson; 3 sister-in-laws, Mary Mins, Beatrice Person and Ira Thompson; god daughters, Hattie, Katrina and Jessica; host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
