Smith Summers

Smith Summers, also known as “Smitty”, was born April 10, 1934, in Terry, Mississippi to the late Willie Summers and Sinus Lindsey Summers.

He united with the Strafford East Community Worship Center under The First Church of God Outreach Ministries upon moving to Columbus. Smith was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Doris Summers, whom he was married to for over 45 years. Together they raised several children: Douglas Summers (Tracy), Christopher Summers (Brenda), Cynthia Washington, Brenda Adams-Smith, Mc Adams (Delanie), and Ray Henderson.

In addition to his children, Smith leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a proud patriarch who always put his loved ones first. Smith had a passion for singing quartet gospel music and was a member of The Trumpaires, and the Mighty Disciples for many years. His dedication to music brought joy to all who heard him sing.

Smith is preceded in death by his three daughters Wanda, Mattie, and Rebecca. Smith with be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at First Church of God, 3480 Refugee Rd, Columbus, OH 43232. Burial to follow in procession to Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg, OH.
