At an early age of life Stanley professed a hope in Christ and was baptized a Mt. Hermon Baptist Church at the age of 13. He joined Christ Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon under the direction of Pastor Ovell White Jr. Stanley attended Linden McKinley High School after which he joined the United States Navy on July 18, 1973. He proudly served on the decks of the USS Niagara Falls for 12 years receiving an honorable discharge. Stanley enjoyed Science and was pursuing an Associate degree in Science at Ohio University. Stanley loved his immediate family where his smile filled the room, he showed his love by remembering birthdays and holidays with cards and telephone calls that made you feel you were his special sister, niece, nephew or friend. We will miss his smile, love for southern cooking, and good music. Stanley’s caring heart extended to his VA group home family; caregiver, George (Regina) Crawford; roommates, Eddie and Nathan; VA Social Worker, Stella McClure. Stanley was lovingly called the commander of the home, he made sure everything ran smooth and everyone did their part to keep the home clean. There aren’t enough words to express our appreciation to George and Stella for the love, care, and admiration they showed toward our brother. Our prayer is that the Lord will bless each of you in a mighty way for loving his son in a special way. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to each of you.
