Steve Simmons

Steve Simmons was born on August 29, 1961, to Flossie Blackmon and Walter Simmons. He was a graduate of Columbus High School and he attended Columbus Community College. He was a System Developer Engineer and he worked at The Ohio State University until the time of his retirement. Steve was known by the name of “Stevie” and was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He loved spending time with old cars, and recently picked up landscaping. He loved keeping his family up on the family news and most of all loved texting. Steve is preceded in death by his parents Flossie Blackmon and Walter Simmons, sisters Nora Matlock and Pam Russ. He leaves to cherish his memory a longtime girlfriend; his daughter, Bethany Workman; granddaughter, Aria Harris; brother, Willie Martin from Albany GA; 2 sisters, Annette Blackmon of Columbus, Ohio, and Tisha Simmons of North Carolina; 2 uncles, John Simmons of Augusta, GA and Alfonso Simmons of Savannah, GA; and hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. It was a privilege to know and love Steve, and we would appreciate your help in creating a memorable final farewell by signing the Virtual Tribute Book on the Diehl Whittaker website.
