Steven 'Manny' Ewing

April 10, 1957 — June 10, 2017

Steven Ewing, also known as Manny, was born April 10, 1957 in Los Angeles, California to the late Freddie D. Ewing Sr. and Marcella Ewing, he was the 5th oldest of 12 children. He attended grade school in California before the family moved to Ohio in the mid 70’s where he finished his education. In 1978, Manny began working for Galion Amco in Galion, OH making ammunition for the army. Manny was a hard worker and in 1983 after several years of employment, he and his brother Clifford decided to open their own mechanic shop, Ewing’s Auto. The shop was an huge success and after a few years the brothers made the decision to venture forward opening up new locations for Ewing’s Auto, East Coast and West Coast. Manny didn’t stop there; he loved to cook and he was good at it. Manny wanted to share his skill and passion of cooking with so many so he opened his restaurant in 1997, Steven’s Recipe, serving his famous chicken-kabobs, fried chicken and greens. In 1983 Manny crossed paths with Brenda while repairing her 1977 Gremlin and he fell in love. Two years later he promised to Love her Forever when they exchanged vows in the sight of God, on December 24, 1985. Manny and Brenda shared 32 years of unconditional Love, he devoted his heart, his time and his life to give his family experiences, memories and Love to always cherish. Manny was a hard worker, he was great at what he did and he always put others first. When he wasn’t working, Manny was a family man, he enjoyed Family reunions, get-together s, cookouts, fishing/camping trips and traveling. He really enjoyed cooking; the family looked forward to Sunday dinners and the full Holiday spreads. Manny was a giver, he wanted to see others smile and would go out of his way to assist in any way he could. Manny was most happy when he was with family or relaxing to a good Western or a Law and Order marathon. Manny loved the Lord; He was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit in march 2, 1986 at Living Faith Apostolic Church. Manny was called to be with the Lord on Saturday June 10th, 2017. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcella Ewing and father, Freddie D Ewing Sr., brothers, Russell J. Ewing, Charles Clifford Ewing Sr., Gary A. Ewing; sister, Sylvia Sheppard-Ewing and grandson Tico L. Gales. All that has crossed his path will cherish Manny’s wittiness, big heart, and generosity.
