Sue Hampton Bennett was born on January 18, 1917 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to the late Palmore and Willie Mae Hampton. Sue was born the second of 14 children. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a very early age and was baptized. When she moved to Columbus, Ohio, she married the late Euriah Bennett. Her passion and dedication to others led to a lifelong committed occupation of caring for disabled women and their children who were wards of the State of Ohio. Sue helped anyone in need. Sue was an active lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was an astute Sunday School teacher for many years, and she was a generous contributor to the ministry of Trinity. In spite of illness she remained faithfully supportive of the church. Sue’s others passions were reading, studying the bible, gardening, and preparing wonderful and bountiful meals for her family during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. She loved her family dearly. Another passion of Sue’s was her sense of fashion. Everyone knew of her flair for fashion and she would come to church on Sunday morning dressed “Sharp as a Tack.” She was a very wise woman, full of “witticisms” that she’d throw at you at any given time. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could momentarily get anybody together, when needed. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her long life, three sisters and one brother, Selma H. Buford, Eddie R. Hampton, Otis M. Hampton, John W. Hampton; all the children she cared for across the years that came into her life, many nephews and nieces, grands, great, great-great grands, all those she cared for and touched throughout her life, and her Trinity family. She will be greatly missed. Her life was well lived.
