Sylvia Celestine Harris, age 68, of Columbus, Ohio was called home Thursday, April 3, 2014, by our Precious Lord. She was born February 4, 1946 to Hobert and Annie (Howe) Harris who made their home in Maybeury, West Virginia. The family later moved to Bluefield, Virginia. As a child, Sylvia accepted the Lord Jesus Christ while attending Tabernacle Baptist Church. She participated in the Missionary Society, Junior Choir and Vacation Bible School. She also sang with the Harris Family whose singing engagements took them to various churches in the vicinity. Sylvia graduated from the Secretarial Sciences at Bluefield State College. After moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she gained employment at LaSalle College as an administrative assistant where her work performance was deemed as excellent. Many students admired her and kept in touch even after they graduated. Several years later, Sylvia moved to Columbus, Ohio. She was employed at Children’s Hospital and later served as a volunteer in the Premature Babies’ Wing. She loved God, her family, and many friends. As a giving person, Sylvia touched the lives of those who knew her. She will be missed by ALL. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted son, Ansar; sisters, Kathleen, Yvonne and Nadine; nieces, Pamela, Philana, Renee and Katrina; nephews, Greg, Nick and Harding; and a host of great nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
