Tammie Lynn (Ballard) Smoot was born at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, on December 18, 1961. Shortly thereafter, she moved with her parents to Springfield, Ohio. Tammie attended Springfield South High School and graduated in 1980. In her early twenties, she moved to Columbus, Ohio and married her high school sweetheart, James H. Smoot. She was employed at L Brands, formerly known as Limited Brands, for 25 years. She was well known and respected throughout the company. She was a driving force within the Training Department where she helped to design formal training policies and procedures. Tammie was a very proud, recent graduate of Ohio Dominican University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. Tammie was an avid tea drinker—a passion she shared with her son, Tony. Tammie loved to shop at Target with her daughter, Aliesha. Her granddaughter, Aubri, was the center of her universe and nothing or no one could make her smile more. She was an extremely proud grandmother!! Aubri was the love of her life, but QVC was a close second. Tammie was a loyal and devoted customer of QVC!!! She kept UPS quite busy! On June 13, 2015, Tammie passed away suddenly at OSU East Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, George F. Ballard, her grandparents, John and Tommie (Dolly) Ballard, and Thomas L. and Mary R. Austin, and her uncle, Thomas L. Austin, Jr. Tammie is survived by her former husband, James H. Smoot; their children, James Anthony Tony Ballard-Smoot (Sally N. Ike) and Aliesha Lynnette Smoot; her beloved granddaughter, Aubri J. Smoot; her mother, Geraldine (Jerry) Beatty; her sister, Mary E. (Beth) Ballard-Truss; her uncles, Ronald Austin and Ken Austin; her nieces, Mia R. Truss and Erinn N. Truss; great niece, Hayden N. Drakeford; great nephews,Mason and Miles A. Conner; cousins, Geoffrey R. Austin, Erika L. Austin, Jason A. Austin, Dionna Austin, and the entire Smoot family.
