Tausha Lynn Carter

December 24, 1967 — January 29, 2021

Friday evening January 29, 2021, Tausha Lynn Carter went from trial to triumph and gained eternal rest. Tausha was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 24, 1967, to Felencia and Fred Thomas. She was a graduate of the Mifflin High School, class of 1986. She attended Devry University, and in 2003 she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Tausha is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, William “Greg” Carter (Columbus, Ohio), son David Ratcliffe (Denver, CO) and daughter Jordan Carter (Columbus, Ohio); her adoring parents, Felencia Thomas (Columbus, Ohio) and Fred Thomas (Randallstown, MD); mother-in-law Shirley Carter; sister, and brother-in-law, Dr. Kim (Carter) Bates and Gregory Bates, nephew, Greg Bates, Jr., all of Dacula, Georgia; Godmother Marchell Foster; second Mom Barbara Breckenridge; and the extended Reeves Family; special friends John Stinnett, Felicia Clark, Danielle Harden, Stacey Mackey Tidwell, Alyncia Bown, the “Chic Chat Chicas”: Lori Smith Kendrick, Shari Lamar, Michele Hardgrow, Tersa Leigh, Melessa Woody, Theresa Wallington Tipton, Adrian Jones, Carin Davidson, and Elizabeth Towns, and many more. Tausha loved the arts and spent countless hours endorsing arts programming in the community. Both of her children are consummate artists, and Tausha’s love for the arts is lived out through their career trajectory. She was active with community art programming for the summer months in downtown Columbus, with First Night Columbus, and worked with WVKO, The Praise until her health no longer permitted. She was also a gifted organizer, lending her skills to small business and personal clients, and did vocal imagery, providing voiceover work for commercials. Tausha loved her family and had the gift of holding them in sacred space while at the same time sharing her life with others. She loved laughter, good food, good music, and good movies; she found joy in living. It was impossible to be around her and not have purpose and joy. She was going to organize you, hold you to task, and then smile her contagious smile. At times you might not know why you were smiling, because Tausha just “read” your whole life, but her smile would take some of the sting away! Tausha’s legacy is that we all should love, live fully, laugh often, and not waste a single moment!
