Terrilyn Sowell

March 14, 1958 — June 23, 2023

Terrilyn Cassie Sowell, the youngest of three children was born to Catherine Wright and Calvin Clinton Sowell, Sr on March 14, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio. She completed her earthly journey on June 23, 2023.

Terrilyn was a fun spirited soul. She was full of life and was always quick to offer a smile to a friend or to a stranger. She genuinely loved life and gave of herself and of her time without hesitation for the benefit of others. She cared deeply for the people around her. She was kind and compassionate. She gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, Dr. Sherman S. Watkins, Pastor.

Terrilyn grew up in Columbus while attending Columbus Public Schools and Columbus State Community College. From her early childhood years to her adult years, she developed a strong work ethic and an ability to nurture and mentor others. She had a heart to provide love and support to abused and neglected children and their families. She demonstrated this affection before retiring in 2016 from the Ohio Department of Health and most recently while employed at Franklin County Jobs and Family Services.

Terry enjoyed reading, weight training, yoga, and watching old Turner Classic Movies and shows.

Terrilyn loved and adored her family. She adored Justin, son number one. And Baby Sir, son number two, her English Bulldog. She mourned the loss of her brother Calvin C. Sowell, Jr. She will be sorely missed by all.

Terrilyn leaves to cherish precious memories her son, Justin; sister, Brenda; nephew, Calvin III (Megan); nieces, Joy Jackson, McKenzie, Morgan, Mikaela and Naomi Sowell; uncle, Richard (Jacqueline) Sowell; best friends, Karen, Siobhan and Candace; and Baby Sir along with numerous relatives, co-workers and friends.
