Terry Lee Carpenter, age 60, was born to the late Jacob and Lillian (Crews) Carpenter on August 30, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior as a young boy. He graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1975. Terry worked in the Department of Transportation at The Ohio State University for over thirty years. He retired, at the age of 50, to enjoy life as a grandfather. He was creative and would often express himself through many forms of art, from painting to sculpting. After retirement, he aspired to become a chef and attended the Columbus Culinary Institute for two years. He also became a trained photographer. He loved fishing, gambling, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. Terry was reserved with a gentle nature. He touched many lives, whether it be his willingness to listen or the fairness of his decisions. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends unconditionally. He will always be remembered as a hard working family man with great morals and outstanding character. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, father Jacob Carpenter, mother Lillian R. (Crews} Carpenter, brother Larry J. Crews, Sr., and sister Penny D. Carpenter. Terry leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved daughters, Ebonie (John) Banks of Pickerington, Ohio, and Angela Miller of Columbus, Ohio; three stepdaughters; grandsons, Leonard Cain-Banks, Terrence Banks, Anthony Banks, John Banks, Jr., and Gerald Banks, all of Pickerington; godson Jovan Kiby of Columbus; brothers, Gregory Carpenter, Sr. of Mesa, Arizona, and Kenneth Logan of Columbus; sisters, Teresa Carpenter and Sharon Posey of Columbus; aunts, Louise Lindsey of Columbus, Lucille Johnson of Bronx, New York, and Odaree Brothers of North Carolina; nieces, Tamra Chambers, Tanisha Drummond, Keyana Posey, and Keyosha Johnson; nephews, Larry J. Crews, Jr., Erick L. Crews, Monty Posey, Jr., and Gregory Carpenter, Jr., all of Columbus; six great nieces, twelve great nephews, two great-great nieces, one great-great nephew, and many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
