Thelma (Gassett) Sims

Thelma Gassett Herron Sims was born on June 4, 1927 in Berea, Kentucky to the late Floyd and Hilda Mundy Gassett. She departed this life Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Willowbrook Christian Home in Worthington, Ohio. She was a resident of Dayton, Ohio for many years. A devoted and loyal member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church until relocating to Lewis Center, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Allen Sims, brothers, Thomas, Virgil, and Wilbur Gassett, and son, Jeffrey Herron. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Atanya (William) Brown of Lewis Center, Ohio; son, Stephen (Davina) Herron of Lexington, Kentucky; sister, Laura Louise Hopson of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Floyd Gassett of Berea, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Susie (Virgil) of Berea, Kentucky; grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Thelma had an infectious laugh and could easily make you smile or laugh about anything. She was easy going and had a free and giving spirit. She enjoyed doing and giving things to her family and others. She loved crocheting and making beautiful tablecloths. Thelma loved her sister, and her sister loved her - “Them Gassett Girls” looked out for each other.
