Thelma Gilbert Hughes was born the oldest of six children by George and Lillie Gilbert of Greenwood, South Carolina on August 13, 1949. Thelma accepted Christ at an early age. Thelma graduated from Brewer High School in Greenwood, South Carolina. Thelma moved to Columbus, Ohio in the early 1960’s. After getting her first job at Doctor’s North she met and married Lonnie Hughes. She enjoyed playing Bingo, as much as she enjoyed life. She thought the day she was born was a very lucky number (13). Thelma was employed by Doctor’s North for 35 years, CSS for 14 years, Riverside for 5 years and OSU for 5 years. She is preceded in death by husband Lonnie M. Hughes; daughter Nicole Shea Hughes; father George Gilbert and sister Dorothelia Gilbert; She leaves precious and fond memories with sons, Anthony Hughes and Lonnie Wright; mother, Lillie Gilbert of Greenwood, SC; grandmother, Kathleen Wideman; granddaughters, Shanikqua and Jaylia Hughes; sisters, Kathleen (Charles) Jones of Greenwood, SC, Vickie Gilbert, Kim (Floyd) Simms, Charisse (Ronald) Calloway; brothers, George (Joyce) Gilbert and Michael Gilbert; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
