On June 18, 2011, Thelma Ione Riley (Edwards), beloved sister, mother and friend was called home to her eternal rest, following an extended stay at the Westminster-Thurber Nursing Home in Columbus, Ohio. Thelma was the second of six children born to John and Ernie Edwards on April 10, 1918 in Rendville, Ohio (Perry County). Thelma was educated and spent her formative years in Perry County, Ohio. Thelma was a member of Rendville First Baptist Church for most of her adult life, sang and traveled with the Church Choir, often leading solo songs on Sunday morning. She loved spending time with family, fishing, gardening and attending family reunions. Thelma married the late Edward N. Riley, becoming a loving stepmother to Richard Edward Riley (Filomena) of Chandler, Arizona and the late Vivian Lee Mack (Canton, Ohio). She is survived by her oldest sister, Earline Greta Edwards of Dayton, Ohio and was preceded in death by brother Cavender Wilson Edwards (Rendville, Ohio) and sisters Mary Louise Clark (Columbus, Ohio), Eunice Winnetta Daniels (Dayton, Ohio) and Carrie Eugene Edwards (Rendville, Ohio). In addition, she is survived by Richard’s son, Mario Vincent Riley and preceded in death by her grandson, Richard Edward Riley, Jr. Similarly, she is survived by Vivian’s sons, Chris “C” Mack (Tenetia) and Michael Gene Mack (Regina) and daughter, Linda Earline Howard (Robert). Thelma was preceded in death by grandson, Bruce Vernon Mack, Sr. A host of great and great-great grandchildren will carry on her memory.
