Theresa Faye (Simpkins) Coleman

Theresa Faye Coleman, age 59, of Gahanna, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 19, 2014, while at Forest Hill Center in Westerville. Her husband of 37 years was by her side. A 1973 graduate of South High School, Theresa earned an Associate degree from Columbus Technical Institute (now Columbus State Community College) and a Bachelor of Science degree from Franklin University. For over 26 years, she was employed by the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC) where she was a warehouse employee and Contract Specialist. She was a longtime member of Genessee Avenue Church of Christ as well as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Theresa also served a total of eleven years with the United States Army Reserves as a member of the 325th Finance Section of the 83rd Army Reserve Command. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Simpkins. She is survived by her loving husband, Alphonso L. Coleman of Gahanna, Ohio; son, Nalen K. Coleman of Gahanna; daughters, Nicoa M. Lavondo of Miami, Florida, and Angela Crowder of Columbus, Ohio; mother, Alma Wiley Simpkins of Johnstown, Ohio; sister, Rosalind Simpkins of Columbus; brothers, Robert L. Simpkins of Columbus, Carl D. (Lynn) Simpkins of Westerville, Ohio, and Reginald (Kimberly) Simpkins of Centreville, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
