Thomas, born on March 31, 1941, in East Spencer, NC, was the beloved son of the late Marion Hancock and Lucile Halsey Hancock. On November 21, 2023, his journey came to a peaceful end.
Thomas was a man of great character and values. Deeply rooted in tradition, giving his life to Christ in 2010 at Peace Apostolic Church in CA. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Anna Hancock, for thirty-one years. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Hancock Lynn, Janie Johnson, Beverly Bowles, and his brother Bill Hancock, as well as his cherished pet "Little Man".
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Donna Hancock of Charlotte, NC, Rhonda (Jerry) Barnes of Charlotte, NC, Eric (Teresa) Hancock of Indian Land, SC, and Troy (Keysha) Hancock of OH. Thomas is also survived by his brothers,
Donald Hancock of MI, Jerry (Anette) Hancock of MI, John David (Constance) Hancock of SC, Ronnie (Sylvia) Hancock of MI, and Donette Hancock of SC. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Rodney, Saquaya, Tchara, Jnavian,
Anisha (Travis), Markell, Tia, Joshua, Erica, Amira, and his five greatgrandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his stepchildren Rhondetta, Sonja, Gloria, Bernard, Otis, Charles, and LaShonda. Thomas held a special place in his
heart for his nieces, Devera, Toni, and Rosalind of CA, and his beloved pet Max.
Thomas’ life journey began in Great Falls, SC, where he attended Elizabeth Heights High School. Settling in Columbus,
OH, he dedicated forty years of his life to Nationwide Insurance Co. retiring 2003. Retirement allowed him to indulge in his passions and hobbies, which included fishing, bowling, golfing, and cooking. He was renowned for his famous
Tom's BBQ sauce, a testament to his culinary prowess. Always lending a helping hand, Thomas also had a remarkable ability to fix anything, he was our advisor, our Superman!
A man of sportsmanship and camaraderie, Thomas had a deep love for watching his favorite teams, The Ohio State Univ., and Cleveland Browns. He embraced the spirit of competition while finding joy in the company of his brothers. Thomas's infectious laughter, captivating storytelling, and genuine zest for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his memory be a guiding light for us all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1st, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Ave, Columbus - Ohio. Burial to follow in procession to Green Lawn Cemetery.
