Thomas Marshall Gilmer, Jr. started his journey on December 29, 1938, in Manhattan, New York and ended his journey on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a Veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and served overseas in Germany. Thomas found enjoyment as a member of the African American Club in Mt. Vernon, New York, loved to fish and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He was a father, grandfather, and friend known for his simple and easy going demeanor. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Otey Gilmer and his father Thomas Marshall Gilmer, Sr. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Monica Gilmer Gillison, son-in-law Kenneth Gillison and granddaughter McKenzie Gillison who shared in taking care of him in his time of need and daughter Tiffani Cargle (Sidney Cargle) and grandchildren Sidney Cargle III, Carrington Cargle and Landon Cargle all of Columbus, Ohio. He also leaves behind two special cousins Gene Walker and Lynn Walker of New York and a special friend who was like a brother to him, Chuck Smith of Mt. Vernon, New York and many other friends.
