Tony Lamont Northern, age 60, passed away August 18, 2015. He was born February 20, 1955, in Baltimore, MD, where he attended Walbrook High School. A resident of Columbus since 1979, Tony served as a youth leader at Franklin County Children Services from 1985 through 1988, and as Chaplain for the Ohio Department of Youth Services, Riverview Juvenile Correctional Facility from 1996 through 2006. He was also a U.S. Army Reservist. Tony attended the School of Biblical Theology under the guidance of Dr. Isaiah Aycox, Jr. where Tony also served as an Instructor from 1988 through 1994. He was ordained into the ministry at Rhema Christian Center. Tony was a devoted bass player who loved to minister through music. He ministered through several affiliations: Joshua, a musical ministry serving those incarcerated in state and federal penitentiaries; Exhorters in Christ Ministries, which he founded; and Heirs Ministries, serving with his beloved brother in Christ, John W. Stevenson. Tony was a passionate, faithful, and always joyful minister of the gospel through both word and song. Preceded in death by father Montle Northern, and grandparents, Nathan Northern, Mattie Griffin, Andrew Faulkner and Mary Faulkner. Survived by beloved wife, Kathy Nadine Northern (nee Seward); son Michael Nathaniel Northern; daughter Christiana Dominique Northern; mother Ruth Northern (nee Faulkner); half-brother Andrew Northern; half-sister; Anne Moore; uncles, James Northern, Earl Griffin, Leo McCoy, and aunt Blanche Carter, all of Baltimore; nephew Carlton Seward; niece Jamie Seward; brother-in-law, Carlton “Tony” (Marianne) Seward; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
