Tracey Lynn Smith-Cherry, 58, passed away on December 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of joy, creativity, and boundless love for her family.
Tracey was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and John Smith, her sisters Margaret Smith and Rosa Lee (Darryl) Howell, and her brother Arthur (Dorothy) Smith. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Cherry, beloved daughters, Alisha (Leon) Porter and Brittany Cherry; her cherished grandsons: Kamari, Kyrie, and Jaden; and her dear sisters Stacey Smith, Shirley (Marty) Williams, and Denise Leslie. A host of extended family members, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, friends and her closest friends Bonnie and Cheralee.
As a Fraud Specialist at Discover Card, Tracey built a successful career helping protect others. However, it was her passion for creating magical moments that truly defined her spirit. Known as the "hostess with the mostest," Tracey had an extraordinary talent for turning ordinary occasions into unforgettable celebrations. Her home was always a showcase of seasonal splendor, decorated meticulously both inside and out for every holiday.
Tracey approached life with curiosity and enthusiasm, often spending time exploring neighborhoods for design inspiration. She transformed everything she touched into an experience worth remembering, from family gatherings to her legendary parties. Her greatest joy came from traveling and spending time with her family and friends, where she excelled at creating precious memories that will be treasured forever. She enjoyed cooking and gift giving as a form of showing her love for others. Music, dancing, being in her flower garden, and a good Lifetime movie were some of her favorite things to do on her days off.
Tracey lived life to the fullest, bringing warmth, creativity, and joy to all who knew her. Her vibrant spirit and talent for making every moment special will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 1370 East Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205. Burial will process to Evergreen Cemetery.
