T.S. Prewitt

May 9, 1927 — December 17, 2011

T.S. Prewitt was born May 9, 1927 to Valone Clements Prewitt and Fred Prewitt in Samantha, Alabama (just outside of Tuscaloosa). After graduating from high school, T.S. attended Stillman College, in Tuscaloosa, where he completed two years of study in Business Education before enlisting in the United States Air Force in January 1952. He completed Strategic Air Command Officers Preparatory School and worked as a Accounting and Finance Specialist. He ascended to the rank of Master Sergeant and, in July 1972, he retired from active duty service. During the course of his 20-year military career, Master Sergeant Prewitt was assigned to numerous stations around the United States and the world, and received several decorations and citations including the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. Upon his return to civilian life, T.S. continued his career as a accountant and finance technician by day, while persevering to further his education by night. He successfully earned his bachelor's degree, becoming a proud graduate of Franklin University (Columbus, Ohio) and retiring from employment with General Electric. Through his intelligence and educational pursuits, T.S. Prewitt worked hard to make his future bright and the future of his family and friends even brighter. His joy was tutoring his children and grandchildren, as well as taking beautiful family photos and sharing them with his loved ones. T.S. was a proud member of the Deshler Park Civic Association and, over the years, he received many awards and accolades for his generous contributions to organizations such as The Alzheimer's Foundation, the American Heart Association, and the American Institute for Cancer Research. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church before his declining health prevented him from attending. T.S. Prewitt was called from labor to reward on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at his Columbus, Ohio residence. His parents and two brothers, Clyde and Cleveland, preceded him in death. Left to cherish memories of T.S. are his beloved wife Jossie M. Cannon Prewitt; sons, Timothy Prewitt, Kenneth Prewitt, and Michael Prewitt; daughter Andrea Prewitt Anderson; grandchildren, Ayeisha Prewitt, Isaiah Partner Prewitt, and Joel Joey Prewitt; great granddaughter Kaniya Tweetie Swanson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
