Urice Ross, Jr. 65, was called home to rest on March 4, 2020. He was born on November 8, 1954 in Hazlehurst, MS. to the late Urice and Rosie Mae (Flowers) Ross. He was affectionately called Junior by his family and friends. Urice is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Janice, daughter Kyla, brother Percy, sisters Ethel M. Dyer, Elaine Stevens, Natalie Junious (James) of Birmingham, AL., Diane Toogood, aunt Alice Catchings of Hazlehurst, MS. and special sisters Robyn Montgomery (Ervin Ferguson) and Renata Norman (Randall). He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and his Christ Memorial Missionary Baptist Church family. Urice graduated from Columbus East High School in 1973. He attended Bowling Green University, and later joined the City of Columbus Division of Fire in 1978. He retired in 2011 after 33 years of service there. For 10 years, he also worked part-time as a truck driver for Market Day. Urice loved Christ Memorial Missionary Baptist Church; he was a dedicated and faithful member. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry for 5 years (2014 – 2019), and as the Family Bereavement Liaison. He was a Trustee and Usher. Urice was a member of the Ambassadors for Christ Ministry, the Christian Education Ministry, the Finance Committee, and the Multi-Media Ministry. In his spare time, Urice enjoyed completing home projects, lawn work, and traveling with his Janice.
