Vanessa Kaye Lumpkin

December 7, 1962 — April 11, 2020

Vanessa Kaye Lumpkin "Mimi" Vanessa was welcomed into the world on December 7, 1962, to the late James and Catherine Anthony. She was also preceded in death by her only brother, Bernard Anthony. She graduated from Briggs High School and later attended the University of Cincinnati and Columbus State Community College. Vanessa worked in the Medicare Program for 32 years with Nationwide Insurance, Palmetto GBA, and most recently with Maximus as an Adjudication Specialist. Vanessa accepted Christ at the age of 12 and was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served on various ministries. She later joined First Church of God. Vanessa was an outgoing person with a great sense of humor and brought a smile to all that was in her presence. Vanessa endured a lengthy battle with cancer. Despite her health challenges, she never complained and was always willing to lend a hand. While Vanessa was eager to serve, her other passions were cooking, traveling, and reading. In addition, she cherished moments with family; especially, moments with her grandchildren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted friend was called to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, April 11, 2020. Vanessa leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories; husband, Juan M. Lumpkin; daughter, Danielle Rene Watson (JT); grandson, Carter Reid; granddaughter, Chase Raelynn; and a host of family and friends; special friends, Tamekia Smith and Amy Gaines.
