Vernon Leon Mcelroy, Sr.

Vernon Leon McElroy Sr., affectionately known as “3rd Mac”, was born on January 3, 1960 to mother, Maggie Ray Adams and father, the late Vincent L. McElroy Sr. He grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where he graduated from West High School in 1978. Retired from The United States Postal Service in 2019, after 40 years of service. He was a carefree spirit who enjoyed sports, spending time with his best friends, and taking trips to the casino. Preceded in death by brother, Stanley J. McElroy, and step-father, Larry L. Adams. Vernon is survived by his mother, Maggie, whose love he held as the greatest gift. He is also survived by loving life companion, Georgette McElroy; sons, Vernon (Sara) McElroy II and their children, Vernon III, River, and Violette; Michael (Adelina) McElroy and their children, Cameron and Jaxon; daughter, Jenee’ (Dennis Jr.) Dorsey; step-sons, Jovaan (Ashley) Mills and their children, Day’von, Aaliyah, and Jameer; Jarell Mills; special niece, Kaysha Prunty; brothers, Vincent (Tonia) McElroy Jr., Virgil (Wylena) McElroy, Larry Guy (Erika) Adams; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends. Celebration of life service with a special tribute to Vernon’s life to include wearing any Cleveland Browns apparel. Jeans and sneakers are welcomed.
