Vershawn Shang Davis, Sr. was born August 2, 1974 in Columbus, Ohio. Many of his loved ones and friends knew him more affectionately as Braidss. He attended Walnut Ridge High School, but earned his GED and became a certified welder at Cincinnati Job Corps. He was a man with a heart full of love, gracefulness, and kindness. He loved his family, music, breeding dogs, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Vershawn had a very compassionate and calming spirit. He loved to tell jokes and keep you laughing. Vershawn passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the age of 40. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Whiteside, Sr., brother, Luchene Davis, and grandparents, Martin and Margaret Davis, and Edith Ruth Randall. He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, LaVaudia A. Davis and Shayanna Davis; sons, Vershawn S. Davis, Jr. and Luchene S. Davis; mother, Shirley A. Payne; fiancée, Symphony Black; sisters, Tara Whiteside, Camilla Whiteside, Hiesha Johnson, and Nolita L. Hubbard; brothers, James R. Whiteside, Jr., Ja-mil Whiteside, Carlos Whiteside, and Maurice Whiteside; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
