Victor 'Darryl' Cooper

July 4, 1961 — March 9, 2014

Victor Darryl McBride (Cooper) was the youngest child born to Rosa McBride in Mobile, Alabama July 4, 1961. Rosa moved her family to Ohio in 1964 where she later settled in the Southfield neighborhood of Columbus where Darryl attended Marion Franklin High School. Darryl was a gentle, caring and most delightful person. Darryl had many talents that he loved sharing with family and friends. He was a great friend and never hesitated to help out anyone with anything. Darryl’s birthday was the Fourth of July where he would always plan the annual family cook-out. Darryl would make all the arrangements for his Fourth of July cook-out then wow us all on his diving board stunts at the swimming pool and later watching fireworks that evening. Darryl was an exceptional brother, father, grandfather and uncle who cherished time with the many who loved him. Darryl was an avid music lover and collector. You could always catch him with his legs kicked up and playing his guitar while relaxing. Darryl introduced music to all of the family children at an early age. Everyone he knew has a special story about their relationship with Darryl. His presence will surely be missed by all. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved family and many friends. Children, Victor (Shai) Briggs, TeWan Briggs and Roshawnda Briggs (Columbus, Ohio); grandsons: Jaidyn and Josiah Briggs (Columbus, Ohio); siblings, Harry (Christine) McBride (Dayton, Ohio), Parthenia Montgomery, Brenda McBride, Jimmy (Stephanie) McBride, Beverly Kinney (Atlanta, Georgia), Pamela Lishey (Los Angeles, California); nieces and nephews, Ervin, Alisha, John Jr., Harry Jr., Kelvin, Kena, Patricia, Melissa, Rhadika, Jimmy Jr., Leonard, Monte, Ted Jr., Terrell, Bernard, Raymond, Kaleb, Edward, Donnie and Devin and host of great nieces and nephews; aunt, Gladys Tubbs (Columbus, Ohio); special life long friends, Ava Briggs and Tommy “Goldie” Millsap (Columbus, Ohio).
