Vira Harrell, age 80, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011. She was born March 5, 1931 in Rutledge (Butler County), Alabama. Preceded in death by parents John and Clara Staggers Gould, brothers, Johnny, Willie, and William Gould, sisters, Dorothy (Lawyer) Hall, Eula Howard, Ardie Williams, Emma Johnson, and Ola Griffin, several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a host of relatives and friends. Survived by husband James; daughters Marvena Johnson and Janice Irby; sister Clara Giles; grandchildren, James E. Snow, Snobia Alderson, Bryan Irby, Dorreetha Irby, Sonja Irby, Timba A. Johnson, and Joseph Gilbert, Jr., 12 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, special brother-in-law Wayman (Ann) Harrell; devoted niece Merline (Donald) Coulter; special friend Eva LaMarr; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Kartherine Lipsey, Emma Harrell, Patricia Harrell, Elnora Harris, Martha Davis, JoAnn (Thomas) Baity, and Rupert (Katherine) Harrell; a host of other relatives and friends. Homegoing Celebration 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 4500 Refugee Rd., where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the start of service. Bishop Michael A. Dickerson, officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
