Virginia A. Virgie Smith, 73, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011. She was born to William Bill Bell and M. Elizabeth Bit Lynch Bell on January 16, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio. Raised in Flytown, she received her education from Columbus Public Schools and graduated from The Ohio State University School of Social Work. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age. Virgie was a Social Worker with the State of Ohio, Department of Youth Service at the Juvenile Diagnosis Center (JDC)/Training Center for Youth until her retirement. Preceded in death by parents, brother George Michael Bell, sister Suzanne Bell, 9 uncles and 9 aunts. Virgie is survived by loving daughter and caregiver Deborah Smith; son Curtis Smith (Pat Raymond); sisters Mary Lou (Reggie) Rozelle and Carolyn B. Pruitt; brother Bill Bell; sister-in-law Berna Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
