Virginia Elizabeth 'Betty' (Simpson) Wofford

Deaconess Virginia Elizabeth Betty Wofford, 62, departed this life on Sunday, July 7, 2013, peacefully at home. Born March 23, 1951 in Wytheville, VA, she moved to Columbus with her mother in 1960. She was a 1970 graduate of Linden-McKinley High School, earned her Associates Degree from Ohio Dominican College in 2005, and was a 35-year employee of Motorist Mutual Insurance. A member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Betty faithfully served on the Deaconess Board for over 30 years and was active with the Usher Board, Food Pantry, and Joint Heirs C.A.R.E. Group. Predeceased by father Burt Simpson and sister Bonnie Carol Simpson. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Gregory Wofford; sons, Shawn Keith (Jamie) of Brandon, FL and Brian Lamont (Lynn); mother Catherine Simpson; brother James (Ella) Brown; spiritual daughters, Kim Carter, Mildred (Rick) Johnson, and Joyce (Eric) Lee of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Shatuan, Tre'quez, Kahlil, Torrey, Johron, Darnell, and Daveon; sisters-in-law, Sandra Jean Surmon and Judy Mae Harrison of Cincinnati, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
