Virginia L. Alston

Virginia L. Alston, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 24, 2018, at the age of 86. She was born January 13, 1932 to Oscar and Marian Shanklin in Glen Jean, West Virginia. For many years, Virginia resided in Michigan where she was employed by General Motors. After moving to Columbus, she united with the congregation of Asbury North United Methodist Church where she faithfully worshiped as long as her health permitted. She spent her most recent years as a resident of Isabelle Ridgway Care Center. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Billy" J. Alston and her brother, Arthur Shanklin. Virginia is survived by her brother, Robert Shanklin of Michigan; nephew Keith Thomas; very dear friends, Cleopatra Durr, Duane Durr, and Dolores Hawkins of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of cousins, church family and friends.
